What businesses say about QEA

The support we've received from the Queenstown Electrification Accelerator has been incredibly valuable. As we've explored opportunities around electrification and solar, their practical advice, expertise, and willingness to share knowledge have helped us build robust business cases and progress initiatives that may otherwise have struggled to gain momentum. It's been a pleasure working with such a passionate and supportive team, and their contribution has played an important role in advancing our sustainability goals.

Queenstown Airport has greatly benefited from the support provided through the Queenstown Electrification Accelerator (QEA) programme. The QEA team has provided valuable independent expertise, data, and practical insights that have helped inform our energy and decarbonisation decision-making, giving us greater confidence to identify and assess electrification opportunities. Their work has also helped build credibility and understanding across the district, making it easier for organisations like ours to engage in meaningful conversations about energy transition and emissions reduction. We see QEA as an important enabler of electrification and sustainable business outcomes in the Queenstown Lakes region.

As energy costs continue to rise and resilience becomes increasingly critical, businesses are actively seeking solutions that deliver long-term efficiency, cost savings, and security of supply. The Queenstown Electrification Accelerator is a highly impactful initiative that is accelerating this transition. By providing businesses with access to trusted information and technical expertise, it removes barriers to action and gives organisations the confidence to invest in more resilient, low-emissions energy solutions.

Thanks to the quality work by QEA our funding applications have been warmly received by large regional and national funders and we have already raised over 50% of the funds required. We are confident that the project will proceed over this summer 2026/27... I personally have been in the construction and project management industry for over 40 years, and would rate QEA’s enthusiasm dedication and professionalism with the very best of the many hundreds of consultants and advisors that I have worked with around the world.

QEA supported European Bakery with a detailed solar and battery feasibility analysis, identifying the optimal system size, expected costs and financial returns. We also helped structure their Solar for Renters agreement, ensuring the costs and benefits were shared in a way that worked for both the tenant and landlord.

Edgewater Hotel

QEA supported Edgewater Hotel with an in-depth solar and battery feasibility analysis, assessing different system sizes and modelling performance against the hotel’s energy demand. The analysis identified the most economically viable options and provided a clear pathway for reducing energy costs while improving long-term resilience.

Queenstown Airport

QEA has supported Queenstown Airport to identify opportunities for solar and large-scale battery storage, assessing the technical and financial potential of different system options. This work has helped the airport understand where electrification could deliver the greatest value, reduce energy costs and strengthen long-term resilience.
